Food for Life
We know from research undertaken by the School Food Trust that eating healthily has a positive impact on children’s development. We are therefore encouraging and promoting healthy eating through our Food For Life partnership. Our School Nutrition Action Group (SNAG), including staff, governors, parents, pupils and caterers will meet regularly through 2011 to develop a Whole School Food Policy, looking at all aspects of healthy eating, including packed lunches and snack break, and so reinforcing what they learn in the classroom about healthy eating. If you would like to be involved, please contact the school, either through email or the forum.
We hope we will all share ideas and information about healthy snacks and packed lunches with other parents at our Food for Life forum.
You will also find some great ideas online at www.schoolfoodtrust.org.uk/packedlunches or www.eatwell.gov.uk/agesandstages/children/lunchboxsect
In January we also provided every child with a clear bottle so they have ready access to water whilst in the classroom.
