Home School Agreement

"You have always listened and talked through concerns quickly."

Parent

By choosing Bure Valley as the right school for your child you are agreeing to abide by our Home School Agreement. Children will get the most out of their education when we all work together on every issue. The school seeks to work in partnership with parents/carers to support pupils, which means that both school and home have to develop good communication links. Please let us know about anything that might affect your child - we might be able to help. If parents/carers have any comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher, in the first instance, or a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Each child is given a home/school planner which both teachers and pupils fill in. We also encourage parents/carers to add comments.

Parents/carers will:

  • Ensure their child attends school regularly, on time and properly equipped, providing a note of explanation if their child is absent through sickness, or requesting and completing a leave of absence form for any other absence.
  • Inform the school of any concerns or problems that might affect their child’s work or behaviour (such as the effects of changes in family circumstances or the death of a family pet).
  • Encourage their child to show kindness, consideration and respect to others.
  • Encourage their child to be enthusiastic about learning, always to do their best, to enjoy school and to share school experiences with us.
  • Support the school’s policies and guidelines for behaviour.
  • Attend parent/carers’ evenings and discussions about their child’s progress.
  • Support their child in homework and other opportunities for home learning.

Pupils will:

  • Listen to people.
  • Be gentle, kind and helpful.
  • Be honest.
  • Work hard.
  • Be involved in their learning.
  • Look after each other and all property.

Bure Valley School will:

  • Provide a friendly welcome to your child and a secure, stimulating, caring family environment in which to learn.
  • Ensure that your child is valued for who they are and is helped to make good progress in their academic, emotional, social, moral, spiritual and cultural developments.
  • Encourage children to respect themselves, their fellow pupils, staff and surroundings.
  • Strive to provide the best education for your child, through enthusiastic teaching rooted in our values, skills and best practice initiatives.
  • Aim to achieve high standards of work and behaviour through building good relationships and developing a sense of responsibility.
  • Provide you with information about your child’s progress, including an annual report, and provide you with opportunities to talk to teachers/teaching assistants.
  • Keep you well informed about school policies and activities through regular letters and newsletters.
  • Inform you of any concerns regarding your child’s behaviour, well-being, work or health.
  • Contact parents/carers if there is a concern regarding attendance or punctuality.
  • Be open and welcoming at all times and offer opportunities for parents/carers to become involved in the daily life of the school.

Together we will:

  • Challenge your child to strive for the highest standard of personal, social and intellectual development and aim for excellence in all that they do.
  • Foster an understanding of the multi-cultural and diverse world in which we live, promoting respect and tolerance.
  • Attempt to support the fuller life of the community to which we belong.
  • Meet the aims of the school’s vision.
  • Respond promptly to any additional needs or concerns identified and to provide appropriate targeted support.

"Teachers and Teaching Assistants are extremely friendly and helpful."
