Research shows that ‘Classroom focused inquiry by teachers is a key condition of promoting autonomous learning by pupils’. Indeed, ‘Most projects produced strong evidence that a key to improved learning and achievement by pupils is the learning of teachers’

Our shared environments promote a collaborative learning environment for the teachers (and I include teaching assistants in that term). We use the Research Lesson Study model to develop our learning. It ‘engages teachers at all levels of experience and sustains their interest over time. It involves pupils directly in the analysis of teaching and leads to innovation in lesson design and improvements in pupil achievements’.
