Extra-curricular Clubs

"The breakfast and tea clubs provide pupils with a calm and nutritious start to the school day and a sociable time at the end of it."

Ofsted

At Bure Valley School, we are committed to providing a well-rounded educational experience for all our pupils. In addition to our stimulating and broad curriculum, we offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities to enrich the lives of our pupils and support our vision of "Care, Creativity & Challenge".

Opportunities for All

Our curriculum is enhanced by providing extra-curricular opportunities for all age groups across the academic year. During playtimes, pupils have access to extensive play equipment, structured playground activities, a climbing wall, large climbing frame, balance trail, and an outdoor gym. On special activity days, we offer a diverse range of experiences, such as karate, yoga, kite making and flying, and STEM activities.

Targeted Clubs and Activities

Some clubs and activities are tailored to specific age groups or particular groups of children, while others are open to all pupils who wish to apply. This approach ensures that we can cater to the diverse interests and needs of our pupils. We monitor participation to ensure that all children have the opportunity to benefit from these enriching experiences.

Pupil Feedback and Affordability

Our pupils have expressed their enjoyment of these activities and how the extra-curricular offerings help them feel positive, motivated, and eager to pursue their interests outside of school. To ensure we continue to meet the needs and interests of our community, we regularly survey pupils, parents, and carers to gather feedback on our current offerings and gauge interest in potential new clubs and activities.

We are mindful of the potential financial barriers that some families may face, so we strive to make clubs free or as low-cost as possible. All pupils in receipt of free school meals can apply for financial support towards the cost (up to 50%) of an extracurricular club.

Diverse Club Offerings

Our staff generously volunteer their time at lunchtime and after school to provide a wide range of club activities, including Lego Club, STEM/Science, Wildlife/Gardening, Cookery, Chess, French, Spanish, Art, Mindfulness, Dance, Orchestra, Choir, Running, Football, Cricket, Netball, Tag Rugby, Tennis, Yoga, and Tri-golf.

Many of our sporting clubs offer opportunities for pupils to represent the school in local and county-level competitions, reflecting our proud record of success in these areas.

We also have strong links with local sports teams and associations, and we are happy to assist families in connecting their children with relevant grassroots opportunities.

For the most up-to-date list of our extra-curricular offerings, please contact the school office.

By providing a diverse range of extra-curricular clubs and activities, we strive to nurture the talents and interests of all our pupils, while upholding our core values of "Care, Creativity & Challenge". We are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore their passions, develop new skills, and represent our school with pride.
